The Faculty of Education is the University of Auckland’s fourth largest faculty. It was created through the amalgamation of the former Auckland College of Education and the University’s School of Education.
The Faculty of Education offers innovative undergraduate programmes in teacher education, social work and human services (youth work and disability studies) including specialist qualifications in the areas of te reo Maori primary teaching and Pasifika early childhood education. The faculty also offers a full range of postgraduate programmes, professional development opportunities, consultancy and support services for teachers, schools, principals and those in social services.
The Faculty is primarily based at the Epsom Campus, the home of the former college of education. Some programmes are also available at University campuses in the city, Tamaki and at the University of Auckland at the Manukau Institute of Technology. In Northland, the Tai Tokerau Campus in Whangarei offers programmes in early childhood, primary and secondary teaching.
Our qualifications range from foundation programmes all the way to masters and doctorate level. Information on our programmes can be accessed through the Programmes menu.
The Faculty of Education provides Teacher Support Services throughout Auckland and Northland through TEAM Solutions and Reading Recovery services and the operations of Education Centres. It also contracts to provide curriculum development, education management and teacher development programmes both for the Ministry of Education, and for a variety of other funding agencies.
