The Israeli Center for Qualitative Methodologies (ICQM) carries out and supports research across a wide range of disciplines. The Center was established at BGU in 2000, with the aim of developing the field of qualitative methodologies. The Center's activities include research, community programs, conferences, workshops, consulting services, qualitative laboratory services- the first of their kind in an academic institution in Israel
The topics of conferences and workshops include biographical interviewing and analysis, discourse analysis, writing qualitatively, qualitative methods and concept development, grounded theory, thinking qualitatively, doctoral-level qualitative research, arts based research and more. We organize a nationwide biannual Conference for Qualitative Research, which assembles a devoted audience of Israeli researchers and students. We also host scholars from overseas for research, teaching and conferences. Another aspect of the Center's activities is supporting ongoing forums and research groups, such as the Arts Based Qualitative Research group conducted by Dr. Ephrat Huss, a Doctoral Forum conducted by Dr. Lea Kacen and a Feminist Forum conducted by Dr. Michal Krumer-Nevo.
