Qualiti is part of the
ESRC National Centre for Research Methods and is based at Cardiff
University in the Cardiff School of Social Sciences. The mission of
the ESRC National Centre for Research Methods (NCRM) is to provide
a strategic focal point for the identification, development and delivery
of an integrated national research, training and capacity-building
programme aimed at:
• Promoting a step change
in the quality and range of methodological skills and techniques used
by the UK social science community; and
• providing support for,
and dissemination of, methodological innovation and excellence within
the UK
THE 2007 ETHNOGRAPHIC
POETRY COMPETITION
The Society for Humanistic
Anthropology announces our annual poetry competition as a means to
encourage scholars to use alternative literary genres to explore anthropological
concerns. These concerns may be any of those associated with the
fields of anthropology: Archaeological, Biological, Linguistic, Sociocultural
and Applied.
Winning entries and honorable
mentions recognized at the annual meeting of the American
Anthropological Association in fall 2007, and published in
the Society's journal, Anthropology and Humanism . The winner(s)
received an award of $100. All entries considered for
publication in the journal.
There is no entry fee for
members of the American Anthropological Association. If you are not
a member, there is a $10 fee.

and include:
a) one copy of a cover letter with home and institutional addresses

b) three copies of no more than three poems of any length totaling
no more than 10 pages in all (please do not include your name/address
on the poems,
c) a self-addressed stamped envelope for contest results, to be posted
by the end of May 2007,
d) proof of AAA membership or a $10 check made to the Society for
Humanistic Anthropology. Send unpublished poems only. Complete submissions
must be postmarked by March 10, 2007.

Berlin Meeting Qualitative Research (BMT)
The BMT is the largest
event on qualitative research in German speaking countries. It is
a "meeting point" for around 40 wellknown German researchers which

The 6 th Conference of the Discourse, Power, Resistance Series
The
DPR conference encourages a range of presentations: papers, posters, symposia
and workshops, together with work for exhibition and presentations in
the visual and performing arts. Exhibitors encouraged to lead

Research in Europe) the workshop on "Qualitative Analysis of
Visual Data" focuses on:

The workshop had
a capacity-building function, bringing together colleagues drawn from
the different national constituencies, in order to disseminate the
methods and to develop networks of researchers who are able to extend
the methods in their own research, through research methods teaching,
and through further networking. The overall vision for the programme
was one of cascading expertise across boundaries and across generations
of researchers.
