The Centre for Nursing and Midwifery Research vision is to be a centre of excellence in nursing and midwifery research and research education in the tropics. Members of the Centre are active researchers within seven programs: leadership and clinical governance, clinical research, teaching and learning, maternal, child and adolescent health, indigenous futures, mental health and natural disasters. The majority of studies undertaken in these programs are qualitative by design, or mixed methods. In particular, a strong social justice agenda permeates the work of researchers who include experienced, early career and graduate students which takes place in JCU’s arc of engagement which includes Australia, the Western Pacific and Asia Pacific.
